I’ve been absent from this site for a while. I’ve put the time to good use.

  1. I started a neighborhood crochet group where I can teach crochet and get out of my apartment. Crochet is pretty much a singular sport, but improving techniques and finding fellowship is good for me. Hence, I started the group. And I LOVE to teach, as we know. Some pretty experienced crocheters joined in, and we have a nice, active group. Thursday nights at 6 pm, in the community room of my apartment building. Open to the community outside, but bring your own supplies and hooks, please.
  2. Weaving is a hobby that I’ve become enamored with, and I am still learning it. I got a full-sized Inkle loom (apparently mine was an Inklette) that is normal, instead of left-handed. I plan to do a lot more weaving in the future. I finally got a setup worked out where I can weave comfortably.
  3. Back to crochet for a minute. I was given the information for “Knitted Knockers” and signed up as a contributor. They make prostheses for women who have lost their breasts due to cancer or other diseases. They need to be made of specific threads, and there is a crochet pattern. I’m still setting everything up, but it looks like it will be a going project. There weren’t any makers in my area, so we will be supplying about four institutions locally, and collecting from the area to forward to the main group.

Along the way, I got stalked from a Twitter “heart” interaction. Yeah, that was a bit strange. I ended up having to upgrade my imdb.com membership to address the actual management team of the individual the stalker posed as, to get some clarity. It taught me that I’m not as dead inside emotionally as I thought I was.

My recovery program has grown and progressed. I’ve had some insights that were uncomfortable at first, but I feel much better about it now.

As a result of these last two items, I dug around in my photo albums and pulled out some older photos. I’ve been saying for a while to the folks around here, that I used to be “a starlet type” in my looks and body shape. Today, I’m an old shoe, but that’s age and a lot of weight. BUT, I went and changed my social media photos to one of the old ones, and posted the photo from my last day in California, in 1985. Yeah, that’s me, alright. Blonde hair and all; being sassy and sticking my tongue out at the camera.

It’s November, and that means NaNoWriMo. I’m not participating this year. I have a full-blown draft that still needs editing, including structure edits. I got a smaller typewriter this past year, and I think I’ll play with it for my next writing endeavor.

So, that’s it for now. Crochet has been my life, pretty much. I’m packing up Christmas presents now, and some will inevitably be late because shipping costs are what they are – and it’s only November 2! Perhaps after Christmas, I’ll post photos of the projects so you can see them. I made two angels. The first was better than the last. I put it on my cat to take the photo, so that’s Casper. He loves to sit in my lap all the time, and I can’t say as I mind it too much.
