I received an email requesting an interview about author promotions from Tal Valente and accepted. At first, I expected to be “sold” a system or a class, but instead it was a real interview. It was for Re:Fiction Magazine.
She asked how I did promotions, and what I thought worked for authors. She asked how I felt about traditional versus self publishing. And she asked about timing of promoting my work.
It was wonderful! And she was very nice.
Once I realized she wasn’t trying to sell me anything, I warmed up and became chatty. We talked about editors and developmental editors in specific, and how hard it is to find one.
Any genre writer will find a developmental editor is costly at first. Oh, and we talked about the importance of genre.
Yeah, it was supposed to be 15 minutes, but we went to about 25 minutes. I appreciated the opportunity, and Tal Valente in particular.
