Well, a couple of updates for you…
First, the website I volunteered to help with burned down.
How can that happen? The owners of the site refused to pay hosting fees and the site kept being taken offline. If a company or business isn’t willing to pay for the site hosting fees and keep a site online, they certainly don’t need a webmaster!
I resigned formally yesterday. After talking with the hosting company and learning that they lied to me the first time it went down, I realized that they didn’t have the funds to support their site. It’s only $75/yr, folks. Really?
So that’s gone. My time is my own again. More writing time! With NaNoWriMo coming up, that’s a good thing, right?
Monetizing?
The ironic thing about it is that today I received a notice from Google AdSense to update my site settings for this blog. There is a reason I don’t monetize it. I also don’t have to publish a lot of ads that cover content (which annoys the hell out of me when I run across it) or have unrelated people gaining from my prolific writing. If I want to sell something on this site, I’ll put up an ad! Like for my books. That I wrote. Or maybe a product I believe in that I want to tell you about. Not “best placement” as determined by a computer.
Next, I had a blowout yesterday.
Medicare is supposed to provide rides to medical appointments if you have a plan that does that. I do, and they did not. I had a complete blowout. I called the insurance company and made a complaint against the transportation contractor – this isn’t the first time they’ve messed up and I missed an appointment.
- BUT — without a car, I can’t get to a provider out of town unless I use their contractor.
- AND — the insurance is not honored by another person in the same specialty in my town.
- SO — that means I’m being denied treatment because the transportation company cannot honor their contracts.
- This is BIG NEWS and a BIG DEAL.
Time to report to Medicare. It isn’t really Medicare fraud, per se; though they ARE denying me necessary and medically indicated treatment. Because of a transportation issue.

I was on the phone for several hours last night. I blew a gasket, so my blood pressure was up (causing medical harm and putting my life in jeopardy). I was hysterical and my PTSD was triggered (causing psychological harm). And I’ll be getting a bill from the provider for “no-show” because I couldn’t cancel the appointment in a timely manner (causing financial harm).
All of which was caused by transportation not arriving as confirmed only three hours earlier in the day!
This is grounds for a lawsuit in most places. Maybe it’s not a large financial claim, but the additional injuries I suffered are documented. When combined, and seeing how this is provided by my Medicare policy, it’s a lot more important than just the financial injuries.
It’s a really big deal.
So yeah – Mercury Retrograde and a Scorpio new moon. NASTY combination!
At least the new moon energy is dissipating now. We all have to deal with the retrograde till November 20th.
Stay safe!
