Ay! I’ve been going nuts with projects! There are only so many hours in a day, after all!
Writing – I joined a new writing group in Bristol, VA that I found on Meetup. I want to build my memoir and do some workshops to improve my writing. This group is new, small, and dedicated.
Do you know about Meetup.com? You should! It’s a way of finding folks near you who share the same interests. A meetup is scheduled and you show up. A lot of interesting stuff is available! |
NaNoWriMo is starting up, too. I’m getting the “prep emails” already.
Reading – I picked up another Jana DeLeon in the Miss Fortune series (Hurricane Force). And I have Dorothy Allison’s Bastard out of Carolina to read. I’m going to be using the new writers group to get my long-overdue memoir started.
Sewing! Yes! My landlady asked me to make two Advent Calendars for her grandchildren. She boutht the supplies and I’ve been doing the work. I just finished cutting out the numbers that mark the days for the pockets.
My poor sewing machine is un-loved and piled upon right now. As I press down the numbers on the pockets, I’ll be applique-ing them on. Then, there’s a lot more pressing, then more sewing, and then I should be done with them.
When the project is done, I’ll post photos.
Ah, Crochet! Yes. I want to learn the “Thermal Stitch” and make some hotpads. I watched a video last night and I want to get out the thread and try it. I have a lot of cotton thread to use.
I also have several projects to finish. There’s the ruah for my friend Mary, a yellow shawl and a a filet-crochet project in black.
I’ll be doing bi-weekly Tarot readings at a local spiritual center, “Spiritual Awakenings.” I have time for maybe three or four readings between 2-5pm on Wednesday 9/12, 9/26 and 10/10. I won’t be doing any scheduled readings through the holidays, though I’m available by appointment.
I also have some doctor things to take care of, like blood tests and procedures along with office visits to check how this “Keto thing” is working for me on the medical front. I put on a pair of pants today that were the loosest I’ve ever seen them. And my bra, also! So, on my end, I like it!
AND – to put the frosting on this cake, I’m starting step work in my 12-step program this week, with my equally busy sponsor.
Who ever said that retirement was for resting, had it totally wrong! I’m more busy now than ever.
I’m glad I’ve been meditating. Without that, I don’t think I could keep up.
